The Instrument-Assisted-Soft-Tissue-Mobilization-Technique (IASTMT) is said to have evolved from Gua sha which is a method used in Chinese medicine.[1] Gua sha uses instruments with smoothed edges to scrape the skin till red blemishes occur.
